Many contractual rights depend on writing something down within a window, and a good site relationship is exactly when those letters feel unnecessary and get skipped. Send them anyway: a notice of delay, a confirmation of a verbal order, a reservation of a position. The friendliest job can change the week a payment goes wrong, and the notice never sent cannot be sent late.
