Running your own build means making commercial decisions that a contractor's team would normally handle. I adapt the same quantity surveying work to your project, with services arranged around the stages of your build.
Support starts before you commit to the work, with General Support, budget planning, and contract and quote checks before signatures. It continues through monthly payments and changes to the final account, snags and retention. Commercial Management can cover the money side throughout, if you want me to manage it for you.
Self-builds are run in different ways, and everything here fits all of them. You might have one builder for the whole job. You might be acting as your own main contractor, engaging each trade yourself. You might have a kit company supplying and erecting the frame, with trades doing the rest, or you might be somewhere between, or planning to change as the build goes on. The first thing I ask is how your build is run, because it decides the shape of the work: one builder means one contract and one account to keep straight; trades you engage yourself mean many smaller ones, and the gaps between them belong to you. Where a page here says your builder, read whoever you are paying.
