Outsourced Commercial Support

OngoingFor Subcontractors & Main Contractors

Your commercial function, run from outside: the retained services on this side of the practice, taken together and run as one engagement across your projects.

Most businesses hit a size where the commercial work outgrows whoever has been carrying it, usually a director doing it at night or a contracts manager doing it between site visits, but does not yet fill a full time hire. Outsourced Commercial Support is my answer: the commercial function without the hire.

It is not a new service. It is the retained services below, each bought on its own page, taken together and run as one engagement: one scope, one monthly rhythm, one person accountable for the commercial position across your projects.

The engagement is as modular as the services are. Take any subset on any project, add a service when a project needs it and drop it when it does not, and nothing below changes shape by being taken together.

What it runs

Sixteen of the side's services run retained, across five of its seven themes, and Outsourced Commercial Support can carry any of them. Each row below is the standard service from its own page, unchanged.

Procurement & Tendering and Contracts are the two themes with no retained work, by design: both are bought per event, an enquiry structured, a tender levelled or a subcontract placed when the moment arrives, and they sit alongside this engagement rather than inside it.

How it runs

One engagement, with scope and price agreed in writing before anything begins: which services, on which projects, and what the month comes to. The services keep their own scopes from their own pages; the engagement is the sum of what you take and nothing else, invoiced as one line a month.

It runs month to month for as long as it earns its keep. Add a service when a project needs it, drop one at the end of any month, and when a project finishes, its services finish with it. You never hold an arrangement that outlasts the work.

What stays outside

The one-off services stay one-off. A package to measure, a tender to price or level, a contract to negotiate, a final account to assemble and agree: those are bought per event on their own pages, alongside this engagement or without it.

This engagement runs the commercial position of work you have already won. And when something has gone wrong, a claim to build or a dispute to fight, that is the other side of my practice: Claims & Disputes.
