Check the execution copy against what was agreed

Before you sign, read the final contract line by line against the record of what was negotiated, not just the parts you remember arguing about. The document executed is the only version that matters, and the gap between the deal you thought you struck and the words on the page is the risk the negotiation was meant to close. Ten minutes reconciling the execution copy against the deal memo is the cheapest insurance in the process.
