Changes are happening before their price is agreed
A conversation on site is turning into work before anyone has put its cost in writing.
What's happening?
Changes are normal on a live build, but the cost does not become clearer once the work is covered up or folded into the next payment request. Without an instruction, a price and a decision recorded at the time, it becomes hard to distinguish what was included from what was extra.
The useful sequence is simple: describe the change, obtain a price, decide whether to proceed and keep it in the running total. That gives you a current view of what the build now costs before the next change joins it.
The solution
Make each change visible, priced and decided before it becomes part of the work.
If you would rather it were done for you, Variation Control is the service that does it.
