Labour Allocation Sheet

Where every hour went, written down the day it went there.

A daily record of where every hour of labour actually went, allocated against activities you name once and use every day. Disruption arguments are rarely about whether the job took more hours but which activities absorbed them, and that answer only exists if someone wrote it down at the time.

How it works

Name the activities once

Set the activity or cost code headings at the top in your own site language, then allocate each operative's hours beneath them: name, trade, start, finish, hours worked, and where they went.

Worked must equal allocated

The sheet totals hours worked and hours allocated and checks one against the other, so time cannot leak into an unallocated blur. Prepared by one person, countersigned by another, and the day is fixed.

The record disruption cases stand on

A run of these sheets shows output by activity across weeks: the same gang on the same workfront at half the rate after the event you warned about. Analysis like that can only be built from records made at the time, which is the point of making them.

An Excel template with no macros. Only the yellow cells can be edited, the Guide tab explains every step, and it prints on A4. Your contract's terms come first.
