Pay Less Notice

The only lawful route to paying less than the Notified Sum.

The payer's notice that it intends to pay less, due by the contract's deadline before the Final Date For Payment. Get it wrong and the full Notified Sum can become payable.

How it works

Same assessment mechanics

The works schedules run exactly like the Payment Notice, so your figures carry straight across.

Contra-charges with reasons

A set-off table entered as cumulative amounts with a required reason per line. Only the movement is deducted each cycle, so nothing double-deducts.

Dates double-checked

Warnings cover both the prescribed period and reversed dates, the two ways a Pay Less Notice usually fails.

Why it is laid out this way

The one document in the set that prints across two designed A4 pages: the notice and schedules on page one, the contra-charges and sign-off on page two.

An Excel template with no macros. Only the yellow cells can be edited, the Guide tab explains every step, and it prints on A4. Your contract's terms override the statutory defaults.
