We've set systems up before and they decayed in a quarter
The habit lasted as long as the attention did.
What's happening?
The launch worked. For a few weeks the diary was kept, the register was current, the tracker earned its place in the morning routine. Then a deadline landed, one week got skipped for good reasons, the skipped week became the norm, and the system slid quietly back into being a folder structure. Nobody decided to abandon it, which is exactly why nobody noticed; decay like this makes no sound until the day something needed the record and the record stops in April.
Systems do not survive on enthusiasm, they survive on cadence: a fixed monthly check, with a name against it, that reads the registers, finds the gaps while they are a week deep instead of a quarter deep, and puts them back. The difference between a system that lasted a quarter and one that lasts is rarely the system; it is whether anyone was paid to keep looking.
The solution
A monthly check that keeps the habit alive.
